So much has changed in my heart in the last year that it felt right to me to make a fresh bloggy start. Come visit me over at Double Yellow! Let's take a new direction together!

We've got our bottled water, candles, and basic supplies. We've cranked down the temp in our fridge and freezer. We're currently making a hot dinner, and planning 2 other meals made tonight that will be good cold in the next day or so.
For all my readers and friends in the path of the storm, we're Mrs. P.http://www.blogger.com/profile/11220151548514474405noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1595224148460368244.post-46925739371985597522011-07-06T19:02:00.002-04:002011-07-06T19:18:42.753-04:00Mired.Well, I'm stuck. My brain feels like goo most days, and although I participate (or at least lurk amongst) many fantastic intellectual conversations online (mostly Facebook), the idea of blogging about, well, anything beyond the random family update confounds me. Maybe it's the summer heat (91 today in Connecticut). Maybe it's still adjusting to life with 3 kids. Or maybe I'm just too dumb to Mrs. P.http://www.blogger.com/profile/11220151548514474405noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1595224148460368244.post-24120692975578587042011-05-15T22:17:00.002-04:002011-05-15T22:45:18.535-04:00Heart and soul.A week and a half ago, our lives changed forever. My husband, my heart and soul, was hospitalized for 4 days. He was diagnosed tentatively with cardiomyopathy, and congestive heart failure. Prayerfully, we will find out more when he has an angiogram which will be scheduled at his cardiologist appointment later this month. While I believe with everything in me that God only gives what we can handleMrs. P.http://www.blogger.com/profile/11220151548514474405noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1595224148460368244.post-83631340204605401922011-04-08T19:23:00.002-04:002011-04-08T19:41:55.117-04:00Food is love. Part 21st, I want to thank you all for your prayers and words of encouragement. These last 2 weeks have been quite stressful, and knowing friends were lifting us to the Lord made all the difference. Ladybug had her weight recheck this morning. According to both our pediatrician and all I could find online/in books, a breastfed baby of Ladybug's age should be gaining 1/2 ounce a day. Some quick math Mrs. P.http://www.blogger.com/profile/11220151548514474405noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1595224148460368244.post-76331071389506519192011-04-06T07:11:00.002-04:002011-04-06T08:37:41.975-04:00Food is love. The last 2 weeks have been quite trying around here, and after much thought and prayer, I've decided to share about how we've been doing. On 3/25, we had Ladybug's 4 month well-baby visit. Although I had thought she was healthy and otherwise fine, she was labeled as failure to thrive (FTT). She had gained only 10 ounces in 2 months' time. According to him, that was less than half of what she Mrs. P.http://www.blogger.com/profile/11220151548514474405noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1595224148460368244.post-25956954857671829772011-03-26T23:41:00.002-04:002011-03-26T23:52:49.840-04:00Romans 12:15Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. It's late tonight, so please forgive me if this post seems all to brief or somewhat jumbled. My heart is heavy tonight with a burden not my own. I've been blessed enough to never have lost someone dear to me. Yet God has called me to live out the above verse this night. Please join me in prayer if you read this. It seems every time I get back in a mellow groove, free of Mommy Wars drama, there's an updated news release or headline that fans the flames.Today, the AAP released it's newly updated carseat recommendations for American kids and parents. With it has come an uproar in self-styled educational advocates, out to show just how ignorant the masses truly are.Lately, that has become my biggest Mrs. P.http://www.blogger.com/profile/11220151548514474405noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1595224148460368244.post-67706509967807379442011-03-17T17:11:00.004-04:002011-03-17T18:05:52.225-04:00Product review: Glisten & GlowDisclaimer: I am not being compensated in any way for the product reviews on the Maze. I have found over the last 3 years that I prefer to buy from home based businesses whenever possible. Often times the products, customer service, and attention to detail are far better than anything you could find in a major retailer. I love helping promote home based businesses because, let's face it, Mrs. P.http://www.blogger.com/profile/11220151548514474405noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1595224148460368244.post-12260366420748633202011-02-28T10:36:00.003-05:002011-02-28T10:48:56.523-05:00Monday MemeIt's been awhile (consistent I am not) since doing one of Cat's Monday memes. So here I am, noticing it's a Monday and all, and I thought, "Hey! Let's do this thing!"1) What two colors do you think look the best together? This is actually harder than I thought it'd be. There's lots of colors I love and many that look great together. My 1st thought is a nice deep red with black or maybe silver. So, without further ado, here's what I'd do with a million cool smackers, tax free. The first thing that comes to mind is saving for the future. I assume that, done properly, $1 million can go a long way. So, take around $250,000 for savings/investment of some sort.I would donate 10% to the groups that helped us so much to not only get Mrs. P.http://www.blogger.com/profile/11220151548514474405noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1595224148460368244.post-65988583443728168522011-02-27T16:00:00.009-05:002011-02-28T00:23:01.520-05:00Through a mother's eyes.If you're a mom and part of Facebook or any online forum for mothers, then you've probably at least heard in passing about the controversy surrounding pictures of nursing infants."Oh the obscenity!!"I took this picture today while nursing Ladybug, who will be 4 months old this week.As I learned before her birth with all my internet research, NIP (nursing in public) is quite controversial. Both inMrs. P.http://www.blogger.com/profile/11220151548514474405noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1595224148460368244.post-27857751866498594132011-02-13T09:34:00.003-05:002011-02-23T10:35:57.184-05:00Confessions of a confused parent, Part 2Now that Ladybug is nearly 4 months old, I thought I'd revisit my feelings on different parenting techniques.I have become "that mom". You know her. The one you never really wanted to be but somehow find yourself walking in her shoes. The one you'd whisper about at the grocery store."See that chick over there? Look at her kids! I'd never raise my kids like that!"Yup, I am her. Much to my Mrs. P.http://www.blogger.com/profile/11220151548514474405noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1595224148460368244.post-58873592484552743352011-01-22T10:32:00.003-05:002011-01-22T10:43:39.722-05:00Just a quick update!First, happy New Year! I realize it's been awhile since I've updated this blog. Life with 3 kids has been challenging, to say the least! I don't think Miss Ladybug is going to give me much time to type (she's sleeping in our BabyHawk and is waking up) so here's a quick recap of the last few months. Our sweet baby girl was born November 4, 2010 via scheduled c-section. Her birth was perfect! My Mrs. P.http://www.blogger.com/profile/11220151548514474405noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1595224148460368244.post-58585726328292794822010-09-12T10:54:00.002-04:002010-09-12T12:27:27.159-04:00Confessions of a confused parentAs Ladybug's birth approaches, I find myself in the completely unenviable position of having to re-evaluate my parenting practices. Urgh. Don't you wish you were me right about now?Our boys were born when I was quite young, 20 and 22 respectively. The only thing Mr. P. and I knew beyond a shadow of doubt that we wanted for our parenting style was to do the polar opposite of our parents. That Mrs. P.http://www.blogger.com/profile/11220151548514474405noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1595224148460368244.post-7470014777772088542010-08-12T14:02:00.002-04:002010-08-12T15:24:17.591-04:00Power of words, anonymity of the internet. Before I launch into what's really on my mind, I want to share this link to give some background on my personal history with the battle over breast vs. bottle. Fearless Formula Feeder is an excellent resource for moms who formula feed while still being very pro-breastfeeding in nature. Now that you've (hopefully) read and gotten more insight into my own struggles, here's what's really been Mrs. P.http://www.blogger.com/profile/11220151548514474405noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1595224148460368244.post-30300183584064155792010-08-12T13:31:00.003-04:002010-08-12T13:43:41.205-04:00Blogging fail.FAIL I SAY!Seriously, I don't know what I did but my last entry just got nommed up by teh intertubes. Hop on a blog train, or do a meme. Many also suggested various theme days. So, here I am, hopping back on Cat's Monday meme.1) How often do you whisper? Not too often. Mostly on Saturday mornings when my 6 year old wakes up at the buttcrack of dawn. And yes, I'm whispering to tell him to go back to sleep.2) Mrs. P.http://www.blogger.com/profile/11220151548514474405noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1595224148460368244.post-28449349617484724492010-04-24T18:15:00.003-04:002010-04-24T18:21:07.331-04:00It's been a long time, huh?I must say that I'm somewhat ashamed of myself for letting this blog go so very long without being updated. *totally embarrassed*A lot has happened this year. In March, we found out that God had chosen to bless us with our 3rd child. I'm due November 6th, but will be having a planned c-section before then.So much has changed in my heart after going through this trial of secondary infertility. In Mrs. P.http://www.blogger.com/profile/11220151548514474405noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1595224148460368244.post-55032255681621854852009-11-09T09:11:00.003-05:002009-11-09T09:39:10.196-05:00Monday MemeIt's been quite a long time since I've done one of these. So long that when a friend mentioned she was getting a meme up and running, my first thought was "Hey, I used to meme along with Cat! Why'd I ever stop doing that anyway?" So, conveniently, it's Monday, and here's the meme!1) When were you most selfish? Least selfish? Hmmm, I don't know if I've ever been selfish enough to earn a selfish Mrs. P.http://www.blogger.com/profile/11220151548514474405noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1595224148460368244.post-25008839134888254562009-09-21T11:11:00.004-04:002009-09-21T14:16:35.798-04:00Under constructionUmmm...So, I'm changing some things up. Clearly. If any of you have linked to me on your blogs, please let me know so I can do the same for you here. I've lost track of everything as I've been taking time off. I have a hard time saying that, even now. I know it in my head, but my heart screams out denials. When I first threw in the towel, followed God's prodding, and adopted quiverfull ideals (I'm still loathe to say "convictions"), I assumed I'd become pregnant shortly thereafter. Ha. I guess God had a lot more to show me than just trusting Him for my family size.Hebrews 11:39,40. Today I joined a friend's message board and she has a whole section just for us bloggers! Now how cool is that? So, this week's assignment is the top ten of summer. Here goes nothing!1) I finally finished a real knitted project. Not a potholder. Not a test square. A real handwarmer. In soft army green wool. With ribbing! That's fat with a "f" not a "ph". There's a difference you know! (a cookie if you get that reference!)In the last 2 years, I had been diagnosed with high blood pressure. Back in February, we had a change of insurance, which also meant a change of doctors. Never my favorite thing.
